After great success for the second edition of VAA-Video Art Awards between Italy and South Africa, Centro Luigi Di Sarre is back to Cape Town with an award for video artists achieved with the support of Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Pretoria, of International Festival of short movies cortoLovere and of Rainbow Media NPO.

The selection of the works (10 finalists out of 33 applications) represents a cross-section of artistic research in the moving image field. The names of the ten finalists are: Olivia Botha, Pernali Ithoosal, Francois Knoetze, Jabu Newman and Phumulani Ntuli for South Africa; Apotropia Citron/ Lunardi, Alef Grillo, Lorti Mangiasciurti and Nicolló Massini for Italy.

This year’s proposed theme is Interconnections: Identity and memory, a very complex and topical subject in today's times. The works produced bravely contend with strong concepts such as cultural and gender identity as well as the relationship between technology, artificial intelligence and humankind".
